Hamilton Families

Hamilton Families is a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization founded in 1985 with a mission to address family homelessness through their slogan "Housing First. Community Strong." Initially establishing the city's first shelter for homeless families, the organization has since evolved into a leading service provider combating family homelessness. The HF Shelter in the Tenderloin district offers a safe haven, meals, and social services to up to 60 families nightly for six months. Moreover, the HF Transitional Housing program supports 20 families at high risk for chronic homelessness for 6 to 18 months, providing intensive social services. In addition, HF Housing Services actively provides support to prevent homelessness and aids families in finding and retaining permanent homes.

Operational in the United States, the organization received a significant $2.50M grant investment from the Day One Fund in November 2018. While Hamilton Families specializes in Health Care and Hospitality industries, its focus on addressing the issue of family homelessness sets it apart. Through its comprehensive programs and services, the organization remains dedicated to combating and ending family homelessness in the San Francisco area.
