Taste The Impact
Slogan: Empowering students with transferable skills to be successful in their career paths.
Description: Although the services were being provided to the community since 2014 under the Taste of Immokalee umbrella, in 2019, Taste the Impact was created to fuel the youth Entrepreneurship Program behind Taste of Immokalee, a student-created and student-operated company. This enabled the expansion of the Entrepreneurship and Career-Readiness Program beyond the borders of Immokalee and the additional funding mechanism needed to sustain the growth of the organization. Today, Taste the Impact collaborates with different organizations to provide a needed service in underserved areas throughout Collier County. Our organization provides programs that allow high school students to explore different career paths and gain transferable foundational soft-skills through entrepreneurship. Students in our programs have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, accounting, human resource, operations, sales, customer service, and food science.
Innovation is the key to our success. Taste the Impact has a retail side, Taste of Immokalee, and a collaboration with the University of Florida School of Food and Science. These two entities are used as tools to provide students with real time hands-on education. Our goal is to create a less abstract and more interactive learning experience for high school students.
After successfully completing the courses offered, students have the option of applying for a paid work-base internship in the Taste of Immokalee company or joining the Taste X UF Experiential program, where they will work alongside their collegiate counterparts to learn about the overlap between food science and entrepreneurship.
