The Port of Lake Charles is a top-10 U.S. deepwater seaport located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on the Gulf Coast. It encompasses 203 square miles of real estate along the Calcasieu River Ship Channel, handling breakbulk and bulk cargo including forest materials, aluminum ingots, grains, rice, petroleum and petroleum products, sand, and heavy-lift project cargos.
The channel extends an additional 36 miles inland to Lake Charles in Calcasieu Parish, and it serves as the conduit for 7.5 percent of the nation’s daily fuel consumption from the refineries along the channel.
The Port is officially the Lake Charles Harbor & Terminal District, governed by a seven-member board of commissioners, overseeing two marine terminals and over 5,000 acres of property zoned for industrial use, including an industrial park.
Moreover, the Port functions as a landlord to companies leasing Port-owned property and owns several leasable sites on and near the Calcasieu Ship Channel.
Founded in 1926, the Port of Lake Charles operates within the transportation industry and continues to play a pivotal role in the region's logistics and supply chain. For more information, interested parties can contact 337-439-3661 or visit www.portlc.com.
