Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority (ACTA) provides an effective & reliable rail corridor linking the two largest U.S. Ports to the transcontinental railroad. The project, financed, built, and operated by Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority (ACTA), encompasses a series of infrastructure improvements facilitating a more efficient transportation network, including bridges, underpasses, overpasses, and street upgrades to separate freight trains from street traffic and passenger trains. The centerpiece is the Mid-Corridor Trench, a 10-mile long, 33 feet deep, and 50 feet wide trench between State Route 91 in Carson and 25th Street in Los Angeles, operational since April 2002. ACTA is primarily responsible for dispatching trains, infrastructure security and maintenance, as well as collecting fees from railroads for using the corridor to pay off outstanding revenue bonds. Founded in 1981, ACTA is situated in southern Los Angeles County, California, extending through or bordering multiple cities including Vernon, Huntington Park, South Gate, Lynwood, Compton, Carson, Los Angeles, and the County of Los Angeles. With a focus on Government and Military, Privacy and Security, and Transportation sectors, ACTA aims to enhance the region's transportation infrastructure and efficiency.
