Oregon Research Institute

Oregon Research Institute (ORI) is a charitable 501(c) 3 research center founded in 1960. The institute is dedicated to understanding human behavior and improving the quality of human life, with a focus on areas such as childhood obesity and behavioral problems, promoting health across the agespan, preventing and treating teen substance use and abuse, and understanding and preventing eating disorders. In recent years, ORI has expanded its research areas to include genetics, opioid addiction, Alzheimer's Disease, and health economics.

Initially starting with a small team, ORI has grown to become the largest independent behavioral research center in Oregon with 150 employees and a $10 million budget in 2019. The research is primarily funded by research grants from the National Institutes of Health and the United States Department of Education. Currently, 43 research scientists are working on 40 funded grants, ranging from small developmental studies to large efficacy trials, with approximately half of the studies being clinical trials.

ORI's mission to advance science and enhance lives in the healthcare and health and wellness sectors aligns with the increasing global focus on human well-being.
