Materials Research Society

The Materials Research Society (MRS) is an international organization of almost 14,000 materials researchers from academia, industry, and government, established in 1973. It is headquartered in Warrendale, Pennsylvania, United States, and has a membership spanning over 90 countries, with more than 46 percent residing outside the United States. MRS aims to promote the advancement of interdisciplinary materials research and technology to improve the quality of life. MRS sponsors two major annual meetings offering approximately 95 topical symposia and conducts symposium tutorials, recognizing professional and technical excellence. They also facilitate technical interaction among college students through University Chapters and among materials professionals through regional Sections. The society is a recognized leader in education outreach and advocacy for scientific research. MRS collaborates with other materials organizations worldwide and is an Adhering Body of the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS). They promote communication exchange through various publications such as MRS Bulletin, Journal of Materials Research (JMR), MRS Communications, MRS Energy & Sustainability, MRS Advances, and other related publications.
