Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is committed to providing a transformative path forward for every Maryland child through a diverse educational landscape, including over 1,400 public schools, 24 local education agencies (LEAs), and more than 7,000 child care providers statewide. Collaborating with the Maryland State Board of Education and stakeholders, MSDE ensures that all students, especially historically underserved ones, receive an excellent and equitable education.
MSDE offers a wide range of services to Maryland LEAs and communities, encompassing student assessments, professional development, child care licensing services, educator certification, and rehabilitation services. The organization is focused on creating a rigorous and world-class educational experience for every Marylander, empowering them to succeed in college, career, and life.
MSDE has undertaken a once-in-a-generation opportunity, Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, that aims to accelerate student achievement and reimagine the educational experience from early childhood to postsecondary success. Anchored by the multiyear Strategic Plan, Maryland Transforms, this initiative aligns the vision, mission, values, priorities, and goals to ensure an excellent and equitable education for every student.
