Hellyers Road Distillery is an award-winning artisan single malt whisky producer based in the remote North-West Tasmania, Australia. Founded in 1997, the distillery has a unique and unconventional beginning, initiated by a group of dairy farmer families from Burnie in Tasmania. They were driven by the belief that the wild and remote North-West Tasmania was the perfect environment to create globally acclaimed whisky, a restless spirit that persists to this day. The distillery's name, Hellyers Road, is derived from the spirit of its location and origins, as a physical 'Hellyers Road' once ran through the site, originally surveyed by the explorer Henry Hellyer in 1820. The founders of Hellyers Road shared a parallel restless spirit with the explorer’s quest to journey into the unknown. Inspired by Tasmania’s North-West wilderness and the quality of their milk production, the dairy farmers ventured fearlessly into the production of single malt whisky. In just 25 years, Hellyers Road has become the largest boutique distillery in Australia, exporting to over 25 countries worldwide.
