Gram Vaani
Gram Vaani is a social technology company incubated out of IIT Delhi, founded in 2009. The company's mission is to empower underserved communities by amplifying their voices using tech innovations. Their pioneering radio automation system runs at 40+ community radio stations in India and 5 in Africa, enabling an aggregate population of 2.5 million people to create their own local media. Additionally, their radio-over-phone citizen journalism service is deployed in various regions in India and internationally, with more than 1.5 million users and 6 million phone calls. The company is actively working on its unified platform of social media for the bottom of the pyramid called Mobile Vaani, which aims to provide rural areas with a social media platform equivalent to mainstream ones such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
Gram Vaani recently received Venture Round investment at 21 June 2023 from Acumen. The company is actively seeking non-profit and corporate partners interested in utilizing the Mobile Vaani network for outreach into remote and rural areas in a measurable and robust manner.
