Global Investigative Journalism Network

The Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) is an international association that serves as the hub for the world's investigative reporters. With a core mission of supporting and strengthening investigative journalism globally, GIJN particularly focuses on journalists from repressive regimes and marginalized communities. Founded in 2003, it has grown to include 250 member groups in 91 countries and operates with a staff based in 24 countries. The organization hosts the Global Investigative Journalism Conference every two years, bringing together over 8,000 journalists from 140 countries. It also presents the prestigious Global Shining Light Awards during this event, acknowledging outstanding investigative journalism in developing or transitioning countries. GIJN runs multilingual publishing and social media feeds on 20 platforms in 12 languages, providing valuable resources and information to journalists worldwide. Additionally, the GIJN Help Desk has responded to over 15,000 requests for assistance since its establishment in 2012.
