Free Music Archive (FMA) is an online platform that allows musicians, netlabels, and curators to share their original music. Established in 2009 by the East Orange, New Jersey community radio station WFMU in collaboration with fellow stations KBOO and KEXP, FMA was acquired by music licensing company Tribe of Noise in 2019. This acquisition marked a new chapter for the company. In 2022, FMA and its partners launched FMA Next, a project aimed at empowering self-releasing artists. FMA operates in the entertainment and music industries, and with its recent initiatives, it aims to provide a platform for artists to share their work under their own terms.
