IMRO

IMRO is an organization based in Ireland that focuses on protecting the rights of music creators, promoting the value of music, and supporting creation. Founded in 1988, IMRO administers performing rights in copyright music in Ireland on behalf of its members, who are songwriters, composers, and music publishers, as well as international overseas societies affiliated with it. As a not-for-profit entity, IMRO collects and distributes royalties from the public performance of copyright works, paid by music users like broadcasters, venues, and businesses through a blanket license fee. These royalties, known as public performance royalties, are then distributed to the creators. Additionally, IMRO plays a significant role in sponsoring and promoting music in Ireland, sponsoring song contests, music festivals, seminars, workshops, research projects, and showcase performances to showcase emerging talent in Ireland.
