Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is a government agency in the Philippines, originally established as the National Science and Development Board (NSDB) in 1958. It has a vision of "A competent and competitive science and technology community with a social conscience." The DOST's mission is to direct, lead, and coordinate the country’s scientific and technological efforts for maximum economic and social benefits. Their long-term vision is to be the provider of world-class scientific, technological, and innovative solutions leading to higher productivity and better quality of life. Additionally, they aim to become a leading ASEAN Science, Technology, and Innovation Hub by 2022. Mandated by Executive Order No. 128, the DOST provides central direction and coordination of scientific and technological efforts for the people's maximum economic and social benefits. Its functions include formulating a comprehensive National Science and Technology Plan, promoting and undertaking scientific and technological research and development, as well as technology development up to the commercial stage. The DOST holds a key position in driving scientific and technological innovation in the Philippines.
