Cowboy Technology Angels is a group of Oklahoma State University alumni and supporters, founded in 2013, aiming to foster innovation and entrepreneurial growth through strategic investments and a collaborative approach to success. Operating independently from the university and its affiliated entities, CTA leverages the university’s research, talent, and innovation to nurture investor-ready entrepreneurs and their emerging businesses. All members of Cowboy Technology Angels are accredited investors and have the autonomy to select their own investments. The group pools its capital into a CTA Series, which invests in a single Portfolio Company, jointly overseeing the investment and sharing the risks and rewards. Members of the Fund contribute $2,000 upon joining, as well as additional amounts for subsequent investments. The Cowboy Technology Angels is managed by Jim Troxel, OSU ’68, who also leads WBTangels. They collaborate with WBTangels to streamline investment processes, provide access to technology and capital, and handle administrative functions. The company operates in the industries of Finance, Financial Services, and Banking.
