The Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) is a 31-year-old workforce development nonprofit that aims to provide underserved teens with a pathway to success. Led by chef Marcus Samuelsson, C-CAP annually serves over 15,000 middle-and-high school students in six cities/regions across the United States, including the Navajo Reservation schools. The organization, founded by Richard Grausman, offers culinary, job, and life skills training, along with a focus on food and social justice, equity, and inclusion.
C-CAP's approach includes providing culinary-and-wellness curriculum in middle schools and an integrated approach to employment in the food sector in high schools, through internships, apprenticeships, mentorships, and work opportunities, as well as college and career advising and higher-education scholarships. The organization has worked with 350,000 students and awarded $62 million in scholarships, demonstrating the impact of its approach. The urgency to support these diverse communities has never been more critical.
With its transformative impact on thousands of lives, C-CAP presents an opportunity for investors to contribute to meaningful change and social impact in communities across the United States.
