Akron Hardware is a specialized wholesale distributor committed to providing quality door hardware, parts, and components along with industry-leading customer service. Founded in 1960 in downtown Akron, Ohio by Joe Orihel and Roger Judy, the company underwent strategic transformations to become the first nationwide wholesale distributor of Corbin products. Over the years, it experienced steady growth and expanded its product lines, leading to the establishment of new facilities and distribution centers across the United States.
In 2011, Akron Hardware acquired the assets of Hardware Supplies of America (HSI) in Greenville, NC, enabling it to strengthen its position in both commercial and residential hardware markets. Subsequently, a fifth distribution center was added in Texas, along with a new sales office in North Carolina. An important development occurred in October 2017 when Akron Hardware and HSI were acquired by the private equity firm, High Road Capital Partners, which had previously acquired Midwest Wholesale Hardware and later added Strauss Lock Distributors. This acquisition formed the door hardware industry's largest one-day shipping network, enhancing Akron Hardware's inventory capabilities.
In this new era of distribution, Akron Hardware remains dedicated to offering quality products, industry-leading service, and unmatched speed to market. The company's commitment to these principles positions it as a top choice for architectural door hardware needs.
