Adler Planetarium

The Adler Planetarium is the 1st planetarium in the Western Hemisphere, with a mission to connect people to the universe and each other. Established in 1930, the museum has been a significant presence in the education sector in the United States. Its focus on meaningful connections has been a driving force for the institution for almost a century. Boasting over half a million visitors annually, in addition to its extensive outreach efforts, the Adler Planetarium has a substantial impact, reaching millions through youth STEAM programs, community skywatching events, and people-powered research.

The latest investment of $1.01M came in the form of a grant investment on 01 January 2011, with the Alfred P Sloan Foundation being the investor. This support has enabled the Adler to bring its unique approach of scientific exploration rooted in community and connection to a global audience, offering access to the digital Adler from anywhere in the world. Through these initiatives, individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities are empowered to explore the universe, develop critical thinking skills, and approach challenges with creativity.
