ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics is the world’s largest information centre for economic literature. It holds over 4 million volumes and subscribes to 26,000 periodicals and journals. The institution also provides a vast collection of Open Access documents through EconStor, currently offering free access to 60,000 articles and working papers. EconBiz, the portal for international economic information, enables access to nine million datasets.
The ZBW also edits two journals in economic policy, Wirtschaftsdienst and Intereconomics, and produces the peer-reviewed journal Economics in cooperation with the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, following the principle of Open Access.
Founded in 1919, the ZBW is a member of the Leibniz Association and has been a foundation under public law since 2007. The institution has been recognized with the international LIBER award for its innovative work in librarianship in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Currently, it employs a staff of 250. The ZBW operates in the IT and Publishing industries.
