VPIRG

VPIRG is a nonprofit organization founded in 1972 with a mission to promote and protect the health of Vermont's people, environment, and locally-based economy. As the largest nonprofit consumer and environmental advocacy organization in the state, VPIRG has been actively involved in public policy debates addressing various issues including the environment, health care, consumer protection, and democracy for the past five decades. They operate as a 501(c)4 nonprofit advocacy group conducting non-partisan public interest advocacy and seek legislative and policy solutions to make Vermont a better place to live. The organization utilizes independent research, policy analysis, public outreach, and grassroots mobilization for effective campaign strategies. Additionally, VPIRG established the Vermont Public Interest Research and Education Fund (VPIREF) in 1975 as its 501(c)3 outreach and education arm to conduct independent research and public education across a broad range of issues.
