USO is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to strengthening the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families. Since its establishment in 1941, the USO has been committed to keeping military service members connected to family, home, and country throughout their service. The organization operates over 250 USO centers at or near military installations, including in combat zones, MEPS centers, airports, and unstaffed USO service sites in high-risk areas. Their services cater to U.S. Active, Reserve, and Guard service members and their families through various programs and entertainment. As a congressionally chartered private organization, the USO relies on the support of individuals, organizations, and corporations as well as a family of over 30,000 volunteers to accomplish its mission. The USO is not part of the federal government, remaining independent and reliant on generosity to support its activities.
