The U.S. AbilityOne Commission is an independent federal agency that operates as the Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled. Established in 1938, the Commission's mission is to leverage the underutilized workforce of individuals who are blind or have significant disabilities to provide high-quality, mission-essential products and services to Federal agencies, creating quality employment opportunities. Their vision is to be a trustworthy source of supply and services for Federal agencies while fostering employment opportunities for people with disabilities across all economic sectors. Comprising of 15 Presidential appointees, including 11 from Federal agencies and four private citizens with expertise in employment barriers faced by individuals with disabilities, the Commission aims to make a meaningful impact.
