Urban Building Workshop provides architectural and design services for commercial and residential projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our commercial services include adaptive reuse, in-fill, single-family subdivisions, feasibility studies, multi-family/residential developments, land-use, and entitlements. Our residential services include custom homes and renovations in the San Francisco Bay Area. We specialize in guiding clients through the entire design process: from budgeting and site selection to interior layout and construction. UBW is led by Kevin Skiles, who is licensed as an architect and a contractor. A proud graduate of the University of Michigan’s architecture program, he earned his master’s degree in real estate finance from MIT. He is currently serving his third term as a local planning commissioner. Kevin brings a unique level of construction knowledge to the design process, allowing him to gauge real-time costs. This is a boon for clients, who can lean on this advice to make important decisions. He is also skilled at navigating the permit process, with a rich understanding of planning and zoning guidelines in San Francisco, Marin and Sonoma. With more than 25 years of experience, Kevin has built a unique and impressive spectrum of talents and perspectives. Serving both residential and commercial clients, he is skilled at conceiving creative designs that offer realistic cost-management strategies and innovative solutions.
