University Health is a locally owned health system in San Antonio, founded in 1917. With a workforce of almost 11,000 employees and over 1,200 physicians, the organization offers specialized services, including the region’s only Level I trauma center for both adults and children, and maternal and neonatal intensive care centers designated at the highest levels by the State of Texas. As the region’s only academic health system, University Health is committed to delivering patient-centered, culturally competent, high-quality, and compassionate care. The organization received a grant investment on 25 July 2024 from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. For more than a century, University Health has been dedicated to healing, improving health, training the next generation of medical professionals, and ensuring the people of San Antonio, Bexar County, and South Texas have access to primary and advanced specialty care close to home.
