Totalkare is the leading supplier of workshop equipment in the United Kingdom, specializing in providing and maintaining vehicle lifts and brake testers for various types of vehicles. The company has a rich history, tracing back to its formation in 1953 as Walter Somers Material Handling and later existing as Somers Handling. In 2004, a management buyout resulted in the demerger of Triapt Holdings and the formation of the current business, combining the UK divisions of Somers Vehicle Lifts and aftersales division Totalkare. After experiencing substantial growth, a management buyout in 2018 brought in a new leadership team, including David Hall, James Radford, Peter Geobey, and Mike Lord, to further build on Totalkare's success. Over the years, Totalkare has expanded its product portfolio to include in-ground and mobile brake testers, vehicle pits, wheel alignment, headlamp testers, smoke meters, and a light commercial four-post lift. Notably, they introduced the UK’s first dedicated wash bay mobile column lift designed for long-term protection in wet environments. In a strategic move, Totalkare entered into a partnership with Italian manufacturer Emanuel, marking its entry into the UK rail market by supplying railway lifting jacks to rail depots and manufacturing plants. The company has not disclosed its latest investment details or investors, demonstrating a strong position as an independent and self-sustaining entity.
