The University of Tennessee Southern is a four-year public institution and part of the University of Tennessee System. Originally founded in 1870 as Martin Methodist College, it was established as UT Southern in 2021. Located in Pulaski, TN, the university's historic campus is nestled in the hills of southern Middle Tennessee, offering a picturesque setting.
The university is home to the UT Southern Firehawks and is conveniently situated between Nashville, 70 miles to the north, and Huntsville, Ala., 40 miles to the south. As part of the UT System, it is part of a statewide network of higher education institutions, including campuses in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Martin, Memphis, and Pulaski.
The UT System also encompasses the UT Space Institute in Tullahoma and the UT Institute of Agriculture with a presence in every Tennessee county.
