The Royal Society of Victoria

The Royal Society of Victoria is a membership-based, non-government organization established in 1854, with a mission to elevate Victoria’s scientific and leadership capability to make a positive contribution to the global community. The organization advocates for the importance of science, technology, and innovation in building the skills for Victoria's future industries, governments, community leaders, and research superstars.

The Royal Society of Victoria manages the Inspiring Australia program in Victoria, engaging communities to foster a more meaningful engagement with science in their immediate context. They also encourage, profile, and celebrate the achievements of Victorian scientists through public lectures, awards, and prizes, which are supported by donations and bequests to the RSV Science Foundation.

The organization publishes a monthly magazine titled Science Victoria, featuring news, features, and opportunities for the State's science community, and distributes it digitally via their mailing list. Additionally, their peer-reviewed journal, The Proceedings of the Royal Society of Victoria, showcases papers written by some of Victoria's most significant scientists and has been continuously published since the Society's foundation in 1854.
