The Daily Star has been an essential source of comprehensive English-language news coverage, bridging cultures and bringing the Middle East to global readers since its establishment in 1952. Founded by Kamel Mrowa, the newspaper quickly expanded its coverage from Lebanon to encompass the broader Arab world, aiming to introduce the region to non-Arabic speakers. Throughout the 1960s, it became the leading English language newspaper in the Middle East. Following Mrowa's death in 1966, his widow, Salma Elbissar, continued his legacy until the outbreak of war forced the suspension of publication. Despite facing challenging circumstances, The Daily Star persevered until its offices and press became engulfed in conflict.
