The Centre for Child Development & Sophie's Place Child & Youth Advocacy Centre has been dedicated to helping children with special needs reach their potential since 1953. The organization provides specialized pediatric medical rehabilitation services and supports to over 7,000 children with special needs and their families annually, serving various areas in British Columbia. The Centre for Child Development is a comprehensive resource for children with special needs and their families, offering a wide range of specialized services including pediatric psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physiotherapists, educators, and more.

Sophie's Place is a crucial initiative within the organization, focusing on providing specialized services to physically and/or sexually abused children up to age 15 in a child-friendly setting. It is the result of significant collaboration among various agencies, including the Surrey RCMP, Ministry of Children and Family Development, City of Surrey, Ministry of Justice Victim Services and Crime Prevention, and The Centre for Child Development. Sophie's Place enables these agencies to respond to child abuse in a compassionate and highly integrated manner.
