Texas Association of School Boards

The Texas Association of School Boards is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational association founded in 1949 to serve Texas school boards, representing the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state with over 7,000 school board trustees. With a mission to promote educational excellence for Texas public schoolchildren through advocacy, visionary leadership, and high-quality services, TASB has amassed 75 years of experience within the Texas public school system. The organization offers extensive assistance in all areas of public-school governance and operation, providing solutions and services aimed at supporting the critical work of educating millions of public schoolchildren in the state. Active engagement with nearly all school boards in Texas has allowed TASB to unify school trustees' voices across the state, addressing their needs and those of their respective districts. The organization's crucial focuses on advocacy, training, and information resources remain vital, accompanied by innovative solutions and services that alleviate operational burdens and ensure the efficient allocation of taxpayer resources. Moreover, member school boards benefit from a wide array of support services including legal, policy, and human resources assistance, risk management, investment and insurance guidance, purchasing and energy cooperatives, facility services, and special population consulting.
