TEXAR Federal Credit Union is a community-first credit union that has been serving members in and around the Texarkana area since 1951. With approximately 80 employees, TEXAR comprises one main branch and three branch offices. Eligibility for membership extends to all citizens of Cass, Bowie, and Miller Counties, as well as most citizens of Red River and Lamar Counties. Originally named "Bowie County Teachers Credit Union," TEXAR has undergone several rebrands, eventually adopting its current name in 2001. The credit union's mission is to serve the financial needs of its members as a not-for-profit financial cooperative, distinguishing it from traditional banks focused on profit goals and shareholder pressures.
