Teaching Lab

Teaching Lab is a nonprofit organization dedicated to narrowing the educational opportunity gap through teacher-led professional learning. The company identifies exceptional teacher-leaders, collaborates with them to recruit their colleagues, and provides support to enhance instruction for under-served students. To elevate the achievement of under-served students, thousands of teachers need to enhance their instruction. Despite the annual investment of over $20 billion by US schools in teacher training, conventional professional development (PD) methods are largely ineffective due to low teacher buy-in, generic content, and lack of follow through. Teaching Lab presents an effective and scalable alternative for rapidly enhancing teaching quality. The model employed by Teaching Lab is founded on three key elements supported by cognitive science and education research: Teacher Leadership, Core Content, and Iterative Cycles of Inquiry. By integrating these elements, the company aims to create an impact greater than the sum of its parts. Founded in 2015 and based in the United States, Teaching Lab has not disclosed its last investment or the involved investors.
