Suricata Project | Open Information Security Foundation (OISF) is a US non-profit organization that owns and manages the Suricata, a next-generation IDS/IPS engine. OISF collaborates with leading software developers in the security industry and engages the open source security community to address current and future IDS/IPS needs.
OISF’s primary goal is to stay at the forefront of open source IDS/IPS development, community needs, and objectives. The organization welcomes the participation of individuals and organizations of all sizes and has established working groups and mailing lists to engage and educate all interested parties. Funding for OISF is sourced from organizations within the community that form the OISF Consortium. These companies receive a non-GPL limited license and other benefits for the engine in return for their ongoing support.
Established in 2009, OISF operates in the Cyber Security, IT, and Privacy and Security industries. The foundation hosts onsite and public training events, as well as an annual users conference. OISF is open to taking on additional open-source technologies and projects in the security sector as it continues to build the community.
