Stiftung Schweizer Sporthilfe was founded on April 7, 1970, with the slogan "Gemeinsam für den Schweizer Sport." The foundation aims to provide Swiss athletes with better opportunities in international competitions, supporting them on their path to the world's elite. Over the decades, numerous sports icons, from legends to modern-day stars, have benefited from the Sporthilfe.

The foundation's primary focus is to ensure that no sports talent fails due to financial hurdles. It particularly supports young athletes and those in niche sports where media exposure, major sponsors, and substantial prize money may be lacking, assisting them and their families in overcoming financial challenges.

With an annual funding of over 9 million Swiss Francs, the Sporthilfe supports more than 1,000 Swiss sports hopefuls in over 80 sports disciplines through individual support such as special contributions, sponsorships, and awards.
