SPACES

SPACES is a contemporary art venue and community hub that was founded in 1978 in Cleveland, Ohio. Dedicated to artists who explore and experiment, SPACES commissions artists worldwide at all career stages to create new work addressing timely issues. The organization emphasizes educational initiatives to cultivate a more informed citizenry and provides grants to artists outside their residency and exhibition programs. Challenging the status quo since its inception, SPACES was established by founder James Rosenberger who united 35 artists in 1978 to support those with an interest in creating and presenting new art. Over nearly 50 years, the organization has demonstrated unwavering support for artists. SPACES currently runs an Artist-in-Residency program and multiple re-granting initiatives supporting local, national, and international artists. The most recent investment, a $75.00K grant on June 6, 2023, came from the Joyce Foundation. The organization is headquartered in the United States.
