Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC) is the largest nonprofit minority business advocacy organization in the region, with a significant presence throughout a 13-county service area. Founded in 1975, it represents the interests of over 600,000 Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and serves nearly 1,700 SCMSDC-Certified MBEs and 300 corporate members. As one of the 24 regional councils in the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) network, its mission is "to be the premiere organization strengthening economic ties between large, public-, private- and foreign-owned corporations and minority men- and women-owned business enterprises." SCMSDC achieves this by providing services such as ethnic-minority business certification, database referrals of minority suppliers, networking opportunities, professional development programs, and access to the corporate member database. With a focus on certifying, developing, connecting, and advocating for minority-owned businesses, SCMSDC plays a crucial role in enhancing the capacity and recognition of outstanding performance in purchasing goods and services from diverse businesses. This unique proposition positions SCMSDC as a key player in promoting economic inclusivity and diversity.
