Solar Roadways is a company with a mission to make the earth a greener and safer place by opening up new markets for solar energy. The company has engineered a modular system of solar panels that are designed to be both walked and driven upon. These panels not only generate solar energy but also incorporate LED lights for signage, heating elements to prevent snow and ice accumulation, and microprocessors for intelligent communication.

The company, founded in 2006 and headquartered in the United States, is currently in the last year of its third contract with the U.S. Department of Transportation. This contract has funded rigorous testing across various parameters, and the results are to be published upon completion.

Furthermore, Solar Roadways is preparing to install its first projects, with a focus initially on non-critical applications such as driveways and parking lots, eventually expanding to highways.

Notably, the company received a Venture Round investment at 23 December 2020 from Meyer Global Management.
