Sohar Aluminium is Oman's first greenfield aluminium smelter, established in 2004. Jointly owned by OQ SAOC, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC - TAQA, and Rio Tinto, it has garnered global acclaim for its environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technology with an annual production capacity of over 390,000 tonnes of high-quality aluminum. With 79% of its workforce comprising Omani nationals, the company prioritizes Omanisation and invests in the development of its employees through an internationally recognized training center. Sohar Aluminium places emphasis on nurturing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and allocates 60% of its production for local downstream industries, underscoring its commitment to the local economy. Additionally, the company is dedicated to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and undertakes various projects to positively impact local communities.
