Fitness event delivery and athlete experience is set to reach new levels in 2023, as the founders and organising bodies of Strength in Depth (SiD) and National Fitness Games (NFG) have joined forces to create a new business that will innovate and disrupt competitive fitness. The new team, headed up by NFG co-founder, Mark Hartnett-Morgan, will aim to build on SiD’s reputation for delivering world-class CrossFit competitions whilst also creating a series of events that provide competitive fitness opportunities and experiences for a broad range of fitness athletes. As part of this exciting merger, the team will be bringing a new competition to the calendar called ATHX, which promises to be the Ultimate Functional Fitness Experience for challenge seekers, fitness enthusiasts and the fitness obsessed. The ATHX format, developed in conjunction with Marchon Training, will offer competitors an iconic 2.5hrs experience ‘under the lights.’ Featuring 3 challenging workouts, Strength, Endurance and MetconX, as well as 2 unique recovery/rehydration zones that will ensure peak performance. Training programmes and the competition day workouts will be communicated in advance of the events, along with post event performance feedback, so athletes can Train. Peak. Compete and then Repeat. The existing SiD and NFG teams have come together under this new business with former SiD Managing Director Ollie Mansbridge moving to the role of SiD Performance Director, and Ollie Marchon moving into the role of ATHX Performance Director, with both having overall responsibility for the format of the respective events. The following events have already been scheduled for 2023 with further announcements planned: SiD Origins – 28th & 29th Jan, Bath University NFG Ireland – 15th April, Sport Ireland Campus SiD British Champs – 15th & 16th July, The NEC ATHX North – 2nd September, ACC Liverpool ATHX South – October (exact venue & date tbc) FITFest – 9th & 10th December, The NEC
