Shmaltz Brewing Company

Shmaltz Brewing Company is an American craft brewing company that made it to the "Top 100 Brewers in the World" by RateBeer.com in 2012. The company garnered 9 Gold and 5 Silver Medals in the World Beer Championships that same year. Recognized with the "Distinguished Business Award" by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Shmaltz was also acknowledged in the "Top 50 Fastest Growing Bay Area Companies" by San Francisco Business Times. Founded in 1996 by Jeremy Cowan as a "Jewish celebration craft beer," Shmaltz's He'brew Beer has embodied quality, community, and schtick since its inception. The company now distributes He'brew® across 35 states, partnering with 40 wholesalers and nearly 4,000 retailers. In 2007, Shmaltz introduced a new line of craft brewed lagers under the Coney Island® banner, which was later acquired by Alchemy and Science, a craft beer incubator owned by Boston Beer (Sam Adams) in 2013. After 17 years of contract brewing, Shmaltz established its own New York State production brewery in Clifton Park, NY in 2013. The brewery features a 50-barrel brewhouse with an annual capacity of 20,000 barrels. Shmaltz packages 12 and 22 ounce bottles and kegs of their core and seasonal favorites, and operates a tasting room for tours, barrel-aged previews, and special releases.
