Serving Seniors

Serving Seniors is a San Diego based nonprofit dedicated to transforming the aging experience for seniors living in poverty. Since its establishment in 1970, the organization has gained national and international recognition for its impactful programs and services. Supported primarily by donations, grants, bequests, and investments, Serving Seniors serves over 5,000 low-income seniors annually with free of charge vital services, including meals, affordable housing, homeless outreach, social and supportive services, health and wellness programs, and more. The organization's pioneering approach has earned it national acclaim as a model for helping seniors remain healthy and independent. Notably, Serving Seniors is the only entity in San Diego, and one of the few in the United States, providing such a comprehensive range of services to vulnerable, low-income older adults. With more than 85% of its clients living below the Federal Poverty Level, the organization plays a critical role in addressing the basic needs of seniors struggling with limited resources. In 06 July 2023, Serving Seniors received a $30.00K grant investment from the San Diego Seniors Community Foundation, enabling them to further their mission of ensuring seniors in poverty can live healthy and fulfilling lives. By addressing the most pressing needs of this demographic, Serving Seniors stands at the forefront of providing life-sustaining services in a welcoming and supportive environment, reflecting their belief that every person is worthy of respect and dignity.
