Seramic Materials is a UAE-based company that originated from the innovative environment of Masdar Institute/Khalifa University and was established in the Masdar City Free Zone in October 2018. Operating as a subsidiary located in the new Masdar Tech Park and supported by The Catalyst, a Masdar-BP initiative, Seramic has pioneered a unique circular-economy solution to recycle solid industrial waste into sustainable value-added products for the technical ceramic and construction markets. This approach offers several advantages:

1. The use of waste as a raw material results in a final product that is 10 to 50% cheaper, compared to traditional raw materials, leading to cost reduction across various applications. 2. By circumventing the extraction and transportation of natural resources, Seramic achieves at least a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions in comparison to conventional ceramics. 3. The energy required to fire the industrial waste-based ceramics can be significantly reduced, resulting in around a 20% decrease in energy consumption and minimizing the product's carbon footprint. 4. By diverting waste from landfills, Seramic contributes to reducing the quantity of materials sent to landfills, promoting sustainable waste management. With a significant investment of $2 million in R&D over more than 10 years, 27 scientific publications, and 6 patents, Seramic has validated its concept by using various waste mixtures, developing different methods and products. The company has built a showcase laboratory at the Masdar Tech Park, the first laboratory in the GCC devoted to transforming solid industrial waste into value-added products. This initiative aims to facilitate the development of a near-zero waste approach in the industrial sector. Founded in 2019, Seramic operates in the industries of Sustainability, Clean Energy, and Waste Solution.
