SASED

SASED is an educational organization based in DuPage County, Illinois, founded in 1959. It serves as a cooperative of 18 school districts, catering to 6,442 students with disabilities. The organization's focus lies in providing a complete continuum of services for students aged 3-21, with an emphasis on integrating them into general attendance centers as close to their homes as possible. SASED acts as an extension of member districts, offering programs for students with moderate and severe disabilities, as well as those requiring an alternative setting for behavioral reasons. Specialized regional programs for students with severe hearing, vision, and orthopedic disabilities are also in place. The governance is overseen by a Board of Control, composed of a representative from each member district, following a structure similar to that of a local school district board.
