San Jacinto River Authority

The San Jacinto River Authority, founded in 1937, is a government agency with a mission to develop, conserve, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Operating in the United States, it covers multiple counties and is one of the 10 major river authorities in the State of Texas. The organization's jurisdiction includes the entire San Jacinto River watershed, except for Harris County. Its primary focus is on long-term, regional projects related to water supply and wastewater treatment.

With its boundaries encompassing the entire watershed of the San Jacinto River and its tributaries excluding Harris County, the San Jacinto River Authority serves numerous customers in the Houston area. Additionally, it is authorized to operate in East Harris County through an agreement with the City of Houston, allowing it to extend its services east of the San Jacinto River.
