Salym Petroleum Development (SPD) is a joint venture of Shell and the Russian oil company Gazprom Neft, established on a 50:50 basis. Founded in 1996, SPD has been focused on developing the Salym group of oilfields (West Salym, Upper Salym, and Vadelyp) in Western Siberia since 2003. The project stands as one of the largest foreign investment projects in the Russian oil industry. With over 1200 wells drilled and more than 75 million tons of oil produced since its launch, SPD has made a significant impact in the ESG, Energy, Oil and Gas, Construction, Autonomous, and Sensor Tech industries.
