The Rocket Racing League offers an exhilarating experience, similar to NASCAR, Indy Car, or Formula One racing, but in the skies. Using rocket-powered aircraft piloted by elite aviators and astronauts, it's the closest experience to Star Wars Pod Racing on Earth. For the many fans attending in person and the millions watching from home, the Rocket Racing League® (RRL) will redefine modern racing. Hosted at various venues nationwide, RRL will feature a range of rocket races, from closed circuit to drag-style, with 2 to 10 Rocket Racer® aircraft competing fiercely. The closed circuit races will be a 4-lap, multiple elimination heat on a 5-mile Formula One-style Raceway-In-The-Sky™. Drag races will see two Rocket Racers flying side by side just 20 feet apart. Looking ahead, RRL plans to incorporate multiple airframes and propulsion systems for developing the X-Racers. Currently, the league employs a Velocity airframe equipped with a single-thrust liquid oxygen (LOX) and ethanol rocket engine from Armadillo Aerospace, led by John Carmack, famous for Doom and Quake. Unlike jet engines that use atmospheric oxygen as an oxidizer, the X-Racer, traveling at 300 mph, carries liquid oxygen onboard. Founded in 2005, Rocket Racing League operates in the Gaming and Sports industries. The last investment of $5.50M Venture Round was made on 04 July 2009 by Augustus Ventures Limited.
