It is responsible for the maintenance, development, and safe circulation on the entire railway network. Established in 2001, RFI ensures access to the railway network for Italian railway undertakings, oversees maintenance, manages investments for upgrading and improving railway lines and installations, and drives the development of technology for systems and materials.
