Renata PLC is a pharmaceutical company primarily involved in the manufacture and marketing of human pharmaceuticals and animal therapeutics. With three manufacturing sites, the company has a long history, starting its operations as Pfizer (Bangladesh) Limited in 1972. Following Pfizer's shift in focus from formulations to research in the late 1990s, it divested its interests in various countries, including Bangladesh. In 1993, the ownership of its Bangladesh operations was transferred to local shareholders, and Renata Limited was born. In a significant move, Pfizer donated shares to the SAJIDA Foundation, resulting in the foundation holding a 51% ownership in Renata Limited, in addition to a partial payment.
