Recipezaar is an online community for cooking enthusiasts, originally launched in December 1999 as Cookpoint.com. Founded by former Microsoft employees in Seattle, the platform has amassed a vast collection of user-submitted recipes, with hundreds more added daily. Notably, the company achieved profitability in 2002 without seeking external funding. In 2007, Scripps Networks, a division of The E.W. Scripps Company, acquired Recipezaar for a rumored $25 million, integrating it into its portfolio of media properties which includes HGTV and the Food Network. Post-acquisition, Recipezaar reported 2.3 million unique visitors, greatly expanding Scripps Networks' audience share to 19%. In 2010, Scripps Networks rebranded Recipezaar as Food.com, incorporating it into their existing digital food content ecosystem. As a part of this transition, the Recipezaar website was redirected to Food.com. It is important to note that other notable cooking and recipe sites include AllRecipes, Snacksby, and Google Recipes, the latter being a part of Google Base.
