PT IFISHDECO Tbk is a Mining Minerals Company in Indonesia, established in 1971 and listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange on 5 December 2019. The company engages in the Exploration, Development, Operations, Sales, and Transportation of minerals to nickel smelter. It owns and operates nickel mines in Sulawesi, Indonesia and began commercial production and sales of nickel ore in 2011 at Ifishdeco's mining concession in Tinanggea, Konawe Selatan, Southeast Sulawesi.
In response to the Indonesian Government's 2014 export ban on nickel ore, IFSH.JK developed a subsidiary named PT Bintang Smelter Indonesia (BSI). This subsidiary, established on 70 hectares of land in Ifishdeco's Tinanggea, Konawe Selatan, Southeast Sulawesi location, is engaged in the production and sales of Nickel Pig Iron (NPI) and commenced commercial production and sales in 2019.
Although the company's operations face regulation challenges, the development of BSI demonstrates a strategic response to governmental changes and positions PT IFISHDECO Tbk to align with Indonesia's policy to encourage foreign direct investment and develop the nickel processing industry.
