Prison Rehabilitative Industries and Diversified Enterprises, Inc. (PRIDE) is a self-funded enterprise with a mission to make a positive difference in Florida. The company focuses on training eligible inmates in vocational skills and transitioning them into the job market upon completion of their sentences. This initiative aims to make communities safer and save taxpayers money by reducing the number of repeat offenders, consequently lowering criminal justice costs. PRIDE operates as a not-for-profit corporation and has been instrumental in significantly reducing recidivism rates of ex-offenders for over 30 years. With over 40 job training centers offering hundreds of certifications, inmates are equipped with real-world skills for re-entry into society. Notably, participants in PRIDE training programs are three times less likely to commit new offenses upon release. This unique program is the only private initiative of its kind in the US, providing a model example of the privatization of government functions. Funded exclusively through the net proceeds from sales of products and services manufactured by PRIDE inmate training programs, the enterprise serves as a cost-reducing measure for Florida's taxpayers, amounting to millions of dollars saved annually.
